Brazilian outlet reports that the Blaugrana have contacted Rodrygo's representatives to express interest in the player. No official talks have taken place, but Barcelona have reportedly informed the player they would be open to negotiations should he push for a departure from the Spanish capital.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Rodrygo has been linked with a move away from the Bernabeu, as he has become disaffected with his position within the squad. The 24-year-old wants to operate off the left, but finds himself behind Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in the pecking order.

DID YOU KNOW?
Any move for Rodrygo now looks unlikely as, earlier today, it was reported that Barcelona and Manchester United are close to agreeing a loan deal for Marcus Rashford. The 26-year-old would spend the 2025/26 season in Catalonia, with an option-to-buy clause included.

WHAT NEXT?
Rashford's signing, and the years of fierce rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid, will likely scupper any chance of an approach for Rodrygo. While the two clubs have done business together in the past, it has been 17 years since a deal has been struck between Spain's preeminent powers. A move away does look likely for the Brazilian winger, however. He has been linked with Arsenal, PSG and Liverpool in the past few weeks.
